" The photo (on the left) was taken at the Olympic
Village, Heidelberg, in Melbourne in 1956. Note the 1956 ID
badge on my lapel. My club, Camberwell, played a number of practice
matches against Kenya.
From
left to right in the photo are Gursaran Singh Sehmi (usually
known in the team by his nickname “Cheni”), myself,
and Surjeet Singh Deol, the Captain and very fine centre-half
of the team. In 1981 I visited Surjeet at his home in Nairobi."
