Hardial Singh Kular (Kenya)
Hardial Singh Kular was Kenya's Team Coach at the 1964 Tokyo and 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games.
He was a Judge at the 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
Hardial Singh, nicknamed 'Hardie' was born in Kenya. His parents came from Sansarpur, near Jalandhar, Punjab, India.
He played hockey for Sikh Union Nairobi, Kenya. He was a right half.
After Coaching the National team for two Olympic Games, he became a hockey administrator.
Hardial became the Vice President of Federation Internationale de Hockey (FIH) in 1992.
He was a member of the FIH Council from 1966 to 1998
He was a member of the Technical Committee of FIH.
He was also a member of the Hockey Rules Board from 1972 until 1998 - a period of 26 years.
He was awarded the FIH'S Order of Merit, which is given for 'distinguished service' over a period of at least 10 years.
He was the President of African Hockey Federation from 1987 until 1998.
As President of African Hockey Federation, Hardial was also a member of the FIH President's Forum from 1987 to 1998.
He was the past Chairman of Kenya Hockey Union.
He was also the past Chairman of Sikh Union Nairobi.
Hardial was awarded the Olympic Order in May 1998 by International Olympic Committee President, H.E. Juan Antonio Samaranch.
The honour came for him promoting hockey in the African continent.
Hardial died in Kenya in October 1998 aged 67.
